I was born and raised in SoCal. My parents had me in aquatic safety swim lessons with Olympic Gold and Silver medalist, Greta Andersen, before I even turned one. I was a natural in the water, swimming every summer and eventually joining the swim team in high school. My entire life, I recall my parents bragging about how good of a swimmer I was.
When my daughter was born I knew that she would share my love of water and swimming. We had a pool in the backyard, so it was important for her to be water-safe. Mommy and Me classes were our only option for her as a baby. While these classes were fun for us to be in the water together, I left each lesson feeling unsuccessful because they had not given me the security that my daughter would know what to do in the event of an aquatic emergency.
About a year later, my son was born and I was once again searching for swim lessons. Ultimately, I found ISR and was so thrilled to have found a program that would teach both of my children to be safe and confident in the water. Both of my kids under the age of 4 knew how to respect pool rules, swim, and be safe around the water. We took a vacation to Hawaii that year, and I will never forget the compliments we received from other guests on how well my children could swim. Our experience with ISR was wonderful and I was thoroughly enjoying the bragging rights just as my parents had!
As my family began building a life in our amazing community of Westlake Village, I was able to finally pursue my secret, life-long desire to somehow help people. I realized I could do something for young children and their families by combining my passion for swimming and became an ISR instructor. I was determined to give other families the same peace of mind I’d had knowing their children would not become a drowning statistic.
I have been teaching ISR as a certified instructor since 2019 and have helped well over 800 children become safe, confident swimmers. It never gets old teaching babies and toddlers that have little to none aquatic safety skills and watching them turn into little fish in just a few weeks. I am rewarded daily by the transformations and excitement that ensues from my students and their families as they become educated and confident in the water.
